The season continues
Summer is over – the dive season isn’t.
October brings cooler water, but often also the best visibility of the year and the quietest dive sites. The water clears up, the shores empty out and dry suit season is at its best. We’re still diving – from the boat, from shore and in the quarries.
In this issue: the season’s last Hanko boat dives, the opening of the ice diving season, our annual Divers Night, a save the date for our Christmas party, October’s specialty Night Diver, Tec courses and a sneak peek at the coming winter season.

On Saturday 7 November we dive in the dark in Lauttasaari – at the same moment as divers all around the world! Arctic Divers has hosted Divers Night since 2022, and this year the tradition continues for the 4th year.
Divers Night is an international night dive event started by Norwegian diver Tone Svee Dahl in Oslo in 2005. In its first year, 351 Norwegian divers went under at the same time at 40 locations. By tradition everyone dives at a time matching the year – this year 20:26 – and there’s cake at every dive site. Last year 1,356 divers took part at 108 sites in 15 countries. Read more about the history of Divers Night here →
During the evening you can complete the PADI Night Diver Adventure Dive – it counts towards both the Night Diver specialty and the Advanced Open Water course.
After the dive we warm up in the sauna (bring your own towel), with sausages and the traditional Divers Night cake. The evening is open to everyone – non-divers are warmly welcome too!
Mark your calendar now: the Arctic Divers Christmas party takes place on Saturday 12 December! Let’s celebrate the dive year together and raise a toast to every dive of the season.
Venue, programme and sign-up will be announced later – stay tuned!

Night Diver
October’s specialty of the month is PADI Night Diver. The darkening autumn evenings are the perfect time to learn night diving: using dive lights, navigating in the dark, signalling and observing underwater nightlife.
Tip: get started at Divers Night on 7 November – the adventure dive counts towards the course.
Our next PADI Divemaster course starts soon. Divemaster is the first step to becoming a dive professional – you’ll learn to lead dives, assist on courses and be a role model for other divers.
Interested? Get in touch with Wode to hear more about the course content, schedule and prerequisites.
Last month we announced that Arctic Divers now has a PADI Tec instructor – and the first Tec courses already start in October!
